Some people would prefer to have this key disabled, here's how:
1. Start the Registry Editor
2. Click on Start > Run, type Regedit and press OK
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Keyboard Layout
4. From the Edit menu select New > Binary value
5. Give this new value the name Scancode Map
6. Double-click the new value, and enter the following binary data (0 = zero): 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00
7. Close the registry editor
8. Log off, or restart Windows for the changes to take effect
Note: This is a system wide setting, so it will affect all users on the system!

Offtopic, but it does have something to do with taking the button off.
I did this to my Mom, when she was out, I took off 8 or so buttons and switched 'em around. She came home, got on the PC, and I couldn't stop laughing.

If you have a microsoft keyboard, install the driver for it. And in control panel, go to keyboard and in the key settings tab you can disable the windows key.

yeah...a very subtle one is switching the M and N keys...some people just start scanning for viruses instead of realizing i switched them...
